Do you know how to cook chocolate spiders or make frog puppets? Can you build monsters and spaceships from scrap items? Have you ever grown a plant or hiked in the bush?
These are all things you can learn when you are a Joey Scout!
Joey Scouts are boys and girls aged six and seven who like having fun and making friends!
When you join Eltham Joeys you’ll be part of a Mob. You’ll play games, read stories, sing songs and do craft activities.
You’ll find out about nature and learn about native birds and animals.
You might fly a kite, go bushwalking, go to the beach, or visit a fire station, zoo or farm.
The Eltham Joeys Scout motto is HOP – Help Other People! You’ll learn to jump in and HOP, and to share with your friends.
You’ll also learn heaps of useful stuff, like what to do in an emergency.
When you join in different activities and learn new things, you and your mates in the Mob can earn special badges to sew on to your Joey Scout shirts.

I must say as a dad that has had his son go through Joeys at Eltham Scouts that the team that run the Joey night are the most amazing duo. My background as a kid was St Johns ambulance and then as I grew up became a circus skills trainer. I had come across allot of trainers but knew very little about scouts. When Samuel first joined I hung around to watch what was going on. I was truly blown away. The skill and precision that these two women possessed was awe inspiring to say the least. I fell in love with the Joey promise " A Joey Scout cares and a Joey Scout Shares" and that the Eltham Joeys are encouraged to think weekly about what they are thankful for. The lessons through play were brilliant and were able to teach them about environment, the bush, camping, cycling, knots, hygiene, sharing, working as a group to help one another and on and on. My son went on to earn his Joey promise badge that he is still so very proud of and has gone onto Cubs. I was so impressed that I have myself become a CUB leader. It has made me grow to be a better father and I am truly proud of my son. All this you will see for yourself when you bring your son or daughter down to try out on a Wednesday night. My son raves about Eltham scouts and as his teacher says. It is all he talks about in school.
